Sway

A quiet day in the neighbourhood with a stroll, lunch and an afternoon writing and reading. Most pleasant. We had a rain storm in the late afternoon and it was delightful to smell the fresh air rain brings from our balcony. I could get used to this lovely flat.

In the evening we went to a local cinema to see Fading Gigolo. We saw it when it first came out and it was even better the second time around. It has a superb soundtrack.

Our stroll back home was beautiful. The lights reflecting off the canals are rather special.

I've been thinking about the anniversary of the start of WWI, today's anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, how Gaza looks liked the bombings of WWII and how Scotland has a chance to be rid of weapons of mass destruction with a Yes vote on 18 September. Mostly I've been thinking about how we never seem to learn and wondering how we can live with each other's differences. This city embraces difference and tolerance so very well.
