New(t) Distraction

Found this little newt in the bird bath this morning. Spent some time faffing to get a photograph then googling to make sure it is a newt before releasing him/her to the cool of the Hosta border.
Now pondering if he crawled into the bath on his own or was dropped by a bird.
May make me late for work; better excuse than the dog ate my homework!
