One World, One Race

So I've not been on for a while, and my photography hasn't been at the forefront for me recently but I'm determined to change that now. Things haven't really been great for me of late, but things are gradually getting better. Time to focus on the things and people I love. Time to work harder with a renewed determination to achieve what it is I want out of life. I chose this image today for a few reasons. Firstly, it was pouring with rain today in Fort Lauderdale, so I didn't have my camera out and I had to settle with something from my cabin. Secondly I've been fortunate enough to have seen a good bit of this world (currently 246 cities in 61 different countries but still feel like I've only scratched the surface) and I believe this is a good enough image to help describe who I've been. I feel like I've just been a wanderer. Going with the flow, seeing where l end up, but I'm coming to an age where I don't want that anymore. I don't want to just be floating along anymore; I want to be in control. I want to be in charge of my destiny and that's what I intend to do.

On the work front, my year is pretty much planned out. I have been given the responsibility of being part of the management team that is setting up a Casino from scratch onboard a brand new Cruise Ship whose maiden voyage is at the end of June. This is a hell of a challenge and one I've been trusted with from my bosses. I'm apprehensive, but looking forward to getting stuck into it. Look out for updates over the coming 6 months.

On a personal front, one thing I've got more passionate about of late is the fight against poverty and slavery. I always want to do more and over time I will but every little helps and the more of us who join the fight, hopefully, the quicker we can eradicate them. Also, if you haven't done your part for the people of Haiti, please do. If you're skeptical of all the charities that pop up whenever there are people in real trouble, if you're unsure of who you want to donate your time, your belongings or your hard earned cash to, there is always the Red Cross. No matter how small, no matter how insignificant it may seem, we can all help and we can all make a difference.
