Chocolate roulade deconstructed
Today I was due at one of those lunches where everyone takes a dish. I had promised a dessert so I decided to take a chocolate roulade with raspberries. It is something I have made many times before and it is always popular. I cooked the chocolate part yesterday afternoon and put it in the fridge flat overnight as instructed. I was rather disturbed when "Bake Off" last night on TV featured Swiss Rolls. "I hope they won't be disappointed with my effort", I thought. It came time for me to assemble the creation this morning. I whipped the cream and then turned out the chocolate ready to spread with cream and then roll. Disaster! It fell to pieces! Completely shattered. It has never done that before. So the chocolate was crumbled into a trifle dish where it was laced with raspberry liqueur and smothered with cream. Raspberries dotted the top to complete the dessert. I took a quick blip and off we went to the lunch.
It was very popular, and somebody asked me for the recipe!
