The colour purple

I'm not entirely sure what this flower is - it looks a little like a thistle head but not prickly bits anywhere.

Lovely evening around the Mere - only irritant being the blue green algae - it looks very like pea soup! A decent amount of rain overnight would help immensely - the water level is about a foot down.
