Inner Selfie
Mesmerising these are. A bugger to try and photograph though.
We had a jolly day bobbing around in a boat on Scotland's only lake, wandering around some ruins, then down in the woods in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park in amongst Rob Mulholland's sculptures. Hopefully you can see the outline of the main figure, along with a second one off my shoulder (the 3rd figure balanced on my shoulder is Samantha keeping herself amused on the phone whilst I fart about in the undergrowth). They look so much better out in the wilds than the ones installed in more urban environments. Set up in amongst the ferns and trees here these blend in so invisibly with the environment they seem like portals you could step through. At the risk of a bloody nose I didn't try though.
The artist's work has recently been used, equally effectively, in the trails for the BBC's World War 1 commemorative programmes on TV.
Not sure why it's taken us so long to visit them, will be back to see them in other seasons.
