City within a city

Stopped by the Alt Erlaa housing estate on my way home. The towers were erected in the 70ies and house over 10 000 people (which is more than entire Eisenstadt, the capital of Burgenland province). In fact the picture only shows a fraction of the entire area.

Normally low-income housing and social tensions come to your mind when looking at the sheer size of those things. Interestingly it ranks among the spots with the highest quality of living in whole Vienna (rooftoop and indoor swimming pools, saunas, etc) - waiting lists are said to be long.
