BOAC and Imperial Airways Officers Qtrs in Rangoon

This was the Annex to the Strand Hotel in Rangoon, built in 1913 by the Sarkies Brothers.

It was later the officers quarters for aircrew from BOAC and its predecessor Imperial Airways in Rangoon.

It is now the Australian Embassy in Yangon.

Aircraft like the Handley Page Atalanta flew on the Imperial Airways route from London to Karachi, then Calcutta and Rangoon and on to Singapore.
