Looking in and out

Saw Mark Morris' Acis and Galatea, a dance incorporating opera. Not entirely successful but flashes of wit and a very powerful death scene, and of course great musicality of the dancing.
On a terribly sobering note I read tonight the blog of a woman who founded a microfinance institution in Liberia in 2007. We worked with her last year for about a week in Monrovia and met some of the most amazing women I will ever meet in my life. The last entries of her journal (she is leaving tomorrow) tell of the country slowly collapsing as officials abandon posts, airlines now no longer fly there, and people see relatives die yet refuse to be tested. Once upon a time this was a country with promise, so very sad.
