Turncoats

We have several flowering cherry trees here. Every year, on each of them, a few clusters of leaves turn to autumn colours weeks ahead of all the others.

Just realised I sound like I'm on Gardeners' Question Time!! No answer required, but if any of you have any inkling of why this happens...?!
