Cage for grass?

I don't know what this thing is, but it appears to be filled with grass. Strange.

Day 12 of joblessness, though it looks like I might get another temporary job at my old job. My former supervisor called me today and told me to apply for a four-month opening on the desk. That's good! I'd rather have a temporary job at a great workplace than no job at all.
