Moon week....

We seem to have an interest in the moon and the night sky here lately.

After Ellas great attempt at photographing the moon the other week she is keen to have another go.
I just happened to read in the paper that it is an exciting time this week for that sort of thing because the moon is going to be very close to Earth and will be looking huge in the sky and it is a full moon too. Apparently this is something that only happens every 10 years or something?

The tides are going to be high too. So it is perfect for a blip attempt!

Also Ellas' school had a trip organized last night out to an Observatory to view the night sky from the big telescopes etc which was sounding great, but was cancelled at the very last minute! We were all (about 30 of us) just about to leave town to drive 40 mins there, rugged up in our thermals etc , when the call came thru that the sky was just too clouded. It was a wild , angry night weather wise so I wasn't too surprised, (and just a little bit pleased as it was also freezing!). It is scheduled for another more pleasant night so am looking forward to that.

Anyway..the moon was looking slightly larger tonight as it appeared on the ridge above our valley I think.. and I will be checking each night this week!
