Leadership: Meet the Authors

On a wet Friday afternoon, what better way to spend your time than attend a book launch in the august surroundings of Edinburgh City Chambers?

Public and Third Sector Leadership: Experience Speaks is a book on leadership with a difference. It brings together the voices of over 40 leaders from the public and third sectors in the UK and presents their thoughts on leadership accompanied by well informed and reflective analysis.

The key people I have pictured in all of this are Dr Brian Howieson (Dundee University) and Dr Julie Hodges (Durham University) who collated all of the contributor pieces, organised them and provided a coherent analysis.

The book is very different from the merely theoretical academic text, and from the popular "great man - hero leader" approach found on bookshelves in airports and populist book shops.

I was honoured to write my 1000 words as one of the 40+ contributors. I also enjoyed the wine and chat at the launch, thanks to Emerald Publishing.
