Johnny Blue's Well

After Sunday School in the 1950's our extended family went on a walk on the country roads around Neilston and Barrhead. We youngsters were never allowed a drink but Johnny Blues's well was a feature passed frequently on these excursions. According to folk legend Johnny Blue was one of the workers form a dyehouse in the locality. The area was well known for dying and bleaching due to the quality of the water and many farming workers came from all over Scotland and Ireland to work in the mills. Seemingly Johnny Blue used to stop here to wash off the dye on his walk home. I passed here this morning and although it's a poor image from my phone it gave me a moment of nostalgia for times and people long gone.
