Selfie for Gaza
I rarely do projects or shoot with a purpose, I tend to stick to shooting for me and instinctively when I see a shot. However, a trip to town today found us close to where a protest was due to start so I decided I would come back with a view to documenting it.
I actually enjoyed shooting with a bit of a remit and to capture the event. (More on that later) However, whilst editing this shot stuck out. I also never get "deep and meaningful" about my shots, but this did ask lots of questions for me. What are these girls motives, will they use this Selfie to reach a young audience via social media to support the cause? Or are they just they just being young and teenagers?
It always amazes me how Londoners can rise to a political challenge and support what they believe in, but it appals me that in today's world we still have issues like Gaza. Today's scene on Oxford Street was a strange mix of people protesting to save families lives and homes and then a great swathe of ruthless shoppers would barge through the march trying to get to their retail fix.
What sort of world is this...?
