The problem with Skippers

The problem with skippers is distinguishing between the Small Skipper and the Essex Skipper. In previous years I've avoided the problem as our recording sheets have a row for 'Small/Essex Skipper' and we assumed ours were 'small' skippers. This year I thought I'd try to photograph some and then identify them. Its not easy - they are mainly distinguished by the colour of the underside of the tips of the antennae. In the Essex Skipper, this area is dark brown or black while in the Small Skipper it is orange-brown. It appears that we have both Small skippers and Essex skippers. This one being the Essex..... I think.
