Of Little Consequence

Ahoy There

Took the boys this lunchtime for their post op check up, was not surprised in the least that Vlad needed £38 worth of antibiotics. He has been dragging his rear end all over the driveway almost every time he goes into the garden, it is eye watering to see. I have to chase him, scoop him up and watch him like a hawk.

Saw Isabel briefly, she'd been at work since 6.00am, the BBC had been filming a new costume drama at her place, I asked her what it was about, she said she didn't know. Isabel does not love costume drama like I do. I have Pride and Prejudice on my iPod and regularly have it playing as I sew, I know chunks of it verbatim.

Mid afternoon I drove up the M1 to Milton Keynes, my friend Tracy ( pictured) lives on a longboat and is moored in a lovely village called Simpson at the moment. Tomorrow we are going to the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in Birmingham, we are very excited about it, we are a bit quilt mad at the moment, our friend Hannah who is working at the exhibition gave us complimentary tickets.

Tracy and I decided that I would have a sleepover as her husband Crusty was away visiting his parents. We said earlier in the week that we would share a bottle of wine and be sensible, that we would leave for Birmingham at 8 the following day. I took 2 bottles of wine just incase though....

We were very excited to see each other, and celebrated being together once again with a glass of chilled wine....

After another glass of wine, we walked down the tow path to The Plough, a lovely family run pub. We had a lovely meal with a glass of wine, then we walked back to the boat, we started talking about lots of different things, including Adam Ant. Tracy put Ant Music on her iPod and we began to sing along with enthusiasm, then came Monday Monday by the Mamas and Papas, Creep by Radiohead, I seem to remember quite a lot of The Jam too, by this time we were playing air guitar ( Tracy ) and air bass (me).

Tracy used to play drums in a band a few years ago, she is a great drummer, her drum kit won't fit on the boat ( obvs ), now she has this thing called a cajun. It looks like a stereo speaker, you sit on it and hit the front and sides of it, bash your heel against the bottom for bass, the top for snare and in between for all the other bits. She was really good at it, I was impressed, I had a go but I was trying to run before I could walk and was getting too excited. I am impatient.

I don't remember what time we went to bed, but I know it was far too late and I know I drank 3 bottles of water during the night.
