Fish in water

One of the tourist traps attractions we were keen to fit in this time round was the aquarium. The little Gs are huge fans of the Octonauts, and consequently far more knowledgeable about the aquatic world than their mother. They were able to identify several species from a glance thanks to their time spent with Captain Barnacles and co - it makes me feel better about their televisual habits to know that at least some of it is having a positive educational impact...

I feel a bit uneasy in places like this. Torn between awe and amazement at the creatures I'm seeing that, in all honesty, I would not want to encounter in the wild (I am, shall we say, a squeamish swimmer), and a feeling that these creatures really should not be restricted to a tank. In the end, this time, curiosity won out, and I have to say, I'm selfishly pleased it did.
