Prudential - Surrey Classic 2014
Well this was a first for us. We like cycling, but have always stuck at home to watch it on the telly. But this one was passing just down the road and we happened to be at home this time (unlike the TdF & Olympics etc).
I took some pictures of the leaders in the break-away, but they camerawork wash;t so hot, so I thought I would spare a though for the tail-end of the peleton. The guys who were just far back enough not to get much of a mention, but who were working almost as hard as the ones a short distance in front. Also, by the time this lot cam around I was experimenting with slower shutters and better angles, so the pictures are a bit more interesting.
BTW this is 42 Christopher Opie (GBR) and 105 Yanto Barker (GBR) and they were hurting.
It was a nice experience watching the race on the TV, then walking up to Tibbets corner in the sunshine to see them all whizz pass and then watch them live on the phone for the short ride down the hill, across the river and up to up to Brenda's house.
Of course, I managed to completely miss Wiggo. Was he really there? I think he just took a short cut and didn't want to come in first in case anyone worked out that he had cheated. That was what we used to do at school when we went out cross country running.
