Always a rose

This is Montrose's tomb in St Giles - although excommunicated and seen as a traitor at his death Montrose is a great hero in Scottish history. He was eventually buried (or most of him) in St Giles in Edinburgh - there is always a fresh rose on his tomb - but who puts it there??
