Different view

Travellers between Guildford and Leatherhead are familiar with the fanciful gatehouse to Horsley Towers. The twin turreted gatehouse faces the traffic on a right angled bend in the road and you can't miss it. However, if the traveller stops to buy petrol in the adjacent garage he will see this side view which gives a rather different impression. It seems to be a residence which isn't apparent from the road.
Very many buildings in East Horsley are built of very decorative flint and brick. They were all part of the Lovelace estate and are very distinctive.
As well as buying petrol today I have made six pounds of Victoria plum jam. There is something very satisfying about having home made jam and marmalade on the top shelf of the larder.
