Basketball boys
Woke early due to the mixed up body clock. Had a huge breakfast to prepare us for having no lunch, as we were getting picked up to go to the Ranch at 1pm.
The boys played basketball to pass the time.
Our bus came just after 1 with another family also going to the ranch. It was an hr and a half journey, up a winding and increasingly mountainous road - we are in the Rockies! The final part of the journey was along a red dirt road, then finally we were here - The Tumbling River Ranch!!
The original house was built by the family who first made 'Coors' beer as their summer holiday home. There are now several buildings, lodges barns and stables. Andy and I are in The Ranch House, in a second floor bedroom called the Scenic room. We have panoramic windows in our bedroom and views of the mountain. Scott, Susan and the boys are in Bighorn, a cabin that sits over the Tumbling River with a balcony view.
We got our riding boots for the week and a show around the place. We played football, frisbee, bowls and horseshoes until it was time for our orientation meeting at 6pm. There we met all the staff and all the other families, and talked about what activities we could sign up for this week.
Then it was dinner. It was fantastic- beef with veg and potatoes, so much food I couldn't believe my eyes!! If I am going to eat this well all week I will be the size of a house!!
After dinner we went to the hot tub for a soak, then ran as fast as the altitude would allow me back to our room. In bed for 9pm, knackered. I think bedtimes will be early all week!!
