Carpe Diem

I am beyond saddened at the loss of Robin Williams. For the last 10 years of my teaching, I drew on his inspiration in Dead Poets Society as the spirit, structure, and backbone of the way I taught. While there are so many lines to remember from that movie, the one that stays with me, the one I shared with the basketball girls last fall, is the one where he has the boys at the old trophy case, and he whispers, "Car-pe…di-em. Seize the day, boys…make your lives…EXTRAORDINARY!"

One of my classes on my last day of teaching provided me a Dead Poets Society moment. Click here to remember.

RIP, Mr. Keating.
