The Lammermuirs

The Lammermuirs are to the south east of Edinburgh and are quite remote - to get to the start of the walk we drove along a single track unfenced road. You could regard them as a bit featureless - they don't have well-defined summits and can be a nightmare to navigate around if the weather is misty. But as you can see, the heather was coming out and when the sun was shining, it lifted the whole scene.

The hill on the left is Spartleton and the one on the right, Bothwell Hill. The hills form a natural barrier between Edinburgh and the Borders.
