Charlecote

Here approaching Charlecote continuing home of the Lucy family for 900 plus years but now run by the National Trust. Here Shakespeare was accused of poaching and appeared before Sir William. It is the most beautiful tranquil rural spot on the banks of the Avon. From here we drove on 7 miles to Upton Park where the Shell oil heir lived in Art Deco splendour, a world away but one gathered he and his wife were really good kind people. I read some pages of his diary, just left there for visitors to read.
