Granny Doreen's 98th birthday party

It was pouring with rain this morning, I really enjoyed faffing around with Granny Doreen's birthday cake. I'd made 2 pink rose and raspberry cakes last night and 2 chocolate ones. I cut out 2 rings from each cake, swopped 1 for a different colour and sandwiched them all together and covered the 4 cake high cake in chocolate ganache. Amazingly it worked and revealed a lovely brown and pink chequerboard when it was cut open.

We celebrated Granny Doreen's 98th birthday and Troys 8th birthday early as we are all going to be away on the actual day of their shared birthday. Heidi was completely hyper not even stopping to draw breath and the dogs were really naughty, India started whinging late afternoon and Mark muttered to me, this is a car crash we need to evacuate. So we did.
