Pole Position

This spinning barber's pole caught my eye as I was strolling down Water Lane in Twickenham.

I didn't know this until today but these poles should be fitted so that the red stripe spirals downwards because it represents blood flowing down, which hails from the days when barbers were blood letters, as well as dentists. With everyone so busy these days a 3-in-1 trip to the barber's could be quite handy.
