World Record!

Southend Pier, the longest pier in the world, 1.34 miles to the end and what feels like 2.68 miles back (although you can get a miniature train). It was taken over during the war and renamed HMS Leigh.

Notable in its career was the accidental sinking of the Liberty ship SS Richard Montgomery which, still containing several thousand tons of explosives, is visible from the North Kent coast and Southend beach at low tide, and continues to pose a threat to navigation and the surrounding area to this day.

Today is our last day before heading off to Germany, our locations might have limited internet opportunities so blips might not be regular for a few days.

Happy holidays.
