Chalkhill Blue

We have a postgraduate student staying with us at the moment - a friend of my son's. His doctoral research is on the effects of temperature change on fertility in woodland butterflies. So for the third day, and final, day we had another butterfly excursion, this time walking across the Downs and through some woodland - within an hour we had chalked up 21 species and seen dozens of common blues, brown argus, chalkhill blues, adonis blues and wall brown as well as some migrating clouded yellows and painted ladies.
