Remembering and Honoring
This is a multifold blip...to remember the comedic genius of Robin Wiliams and at the same time to speak out here for better mental health care and treatment for depression...it's a very very serious illness.
Another young black teen was shot in Missouri and killed by police....he was unarmed.....again. story here.
Just a tad less than a month ago a black man was killed due to the force of a police choke hold...because he was selling illegal cigarettes.... story here. He was not armed.
Then there was the horribly tragic killing of young Trevon Martin who was only "armed" with a bag of skittles and was chased down and shot. story here
It goes on and on and on and frankly just makes me sick to my stomach. I'm amazed , but glad the parents of Michael Brown are calling for no violence as people protest their son's death. But somehow, someway this overuse of force has just got to stop. We do not need to control people with threats and guns and choke holds for nonviolent "crimes" or for just plain being black and male.
My heart weeps and also for the tragic end of a good man..Robin Williams who left a loving family and many many wonderful entertainment memories for so many of us.
Peace, C
