Drookit

Lopud really is a beautiful island. No cars and a very small population. There is a bit of a tourist industry, but the restaurants are of a high quality and not tacky.

Lopud is perfect for a few relaxing days. The only thing missing is the weather. Today it absolutely poured with rain... Constantly. The forecast for the week really didn't look good and we were determined to make the most of the short time we had here.

We went for a long walk around the island. Although our swimming shoes worked well in the pouring rain, our small waterproof jackets very quickly lost their waterproofing. It was a very wet and somewhat disappointed LHRH that got back to the hotel in the afternoon.

Around dinner time a short break in the rain had to be taken advantage of. We shot down to the pool and went for a short swim. Short because it very quickly began raining again.

The only consolation is Lopud itself and the lovely hotel. This photo shows a look down one of the typical streets towards the Monastery. Oh, and the food. The Croats are clearly prepared for the weather and we had a lovely meal sitting under large umbrellas overlooking the bay.
