Old knife

When I visited Great Aunty Hilda in Axbridge in 1976 I was engaged to be married. I hadn't met her before and was very touched when she gave me this knife to cut our wedding cake with. It has been at lots of family birthdays and our children's weddings and now it had been given to our eldest daughter for her family occasions. It is visiting our place and I think I will give it a polish while it is back with us this week.

Aunty Hilda had just one son who had twin daughters. I was so happy to meet one of my second cousins who now lives in New York a few years ago, and as she did not know any of the family it was a very special reunion for us both.

Back home tonight, bliss.
