CHARCOAL WITH WHITE MYSTERY FLECKS

I had just removed the lid ready to bag this batch of hazel charcoal. Lots of charcoal dust and ash was still swirling in the air and (I guess) that explains the mysterious white specks all over this image.

Not a great yield - 45 bags versus 80 last time, but then, last time we had a batch of seasoned oak and that tends to generate more product. There's more log-splitting involved with oak, while the hazel is already a good size for charring - swings'n'roundabouts - variety is the spice - if you can't stand the heat of the kiln get out of the woodyard - etc.
