Bell cage

An early evening wander after a day of planning and admin found us in the very nice village of East Bergholt. The church is an eclectic mix of styles and materials and in the church yard is this wooden bell cage to house the church bells. Apparently this was a temporary measure while a bell tower was built but as this was in 1531 and there is still no tower I'm not holding my breath!
