On holiday : Hamilton Gardens
Woke to sunshine and no wind, just perfect. We went to the Hamilton Gardens, and had a good look around. This photo was taken at the Italian Renaissance Garden. The gardens cover 58 hectares, and lies beside the Waikato River, on the south side of Hamilton City.
After Dad had recuperated from his heart attack back in '46 we moved from Raglan to Grey Street, Hamilton. Just down the road and over Sillary Street was a large gully of gorse and blackberry and further up the road was the cemetery. It was also a rubbish dump and had basketball courts. Today it houses the wonderful Hamilton Gardens. What a transformation. To finish my childhood memories, this afternoon we are going to walk to the Rototuna Shopping Complex, where my Grandparents used farm and live.
