The Billy Graham Library

We made a day trip to Charlotte, NC to visit two sites, one of them being the Billy Graham Library pictured here. We could have stayed much longer than we allowed had we not arrived only 2 2/2 hours before it closed for the day. He objected to the library, but agreed it could be done as long as it didn't focus on him as a person. The idea that advanced was a library tracing the way God worked in the life of a man. The library is filled with many exhibit rooms with various themes. He served as counselor to 11 US presidents and spoke to millions in his crusades around the world. There is one room devoted to the falling of the Berlin Wall and his work there. There is one room focusing primarily on activities with and memorabilia from US presidents. The focus however, was his work with ordinary folks who attended his preaching events, and who were present when he went into locations in times of crisis. His wife is buried on the property (she died in 2007), and he still lives in their home in the NC mountains. The reason the library is like a barn is that his parents' business was dairy farming, and he grew up working on their farm.
