My Big Adventure!!!!
What a crazy day!! And all after a Champagne-fuelled late night!!!
Due to the forecasted arrival of Hurricane Bertha on Sunday, I had to rearrange our plans for the weekend, so it was up at 6am and a quick dash into Bristol to Ashton Court to see the dawn mass ascent of hot air balloons, as part of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.
It was the most perfect Summer's morning, but we couldn't hang around at the Fiesta as I had a 9am appointment with Bristol Flying at Bristol Airport, for my first ever flying lesson!! All very exciting!!!!
I had a fantastic time, and took the controls as we flew out to the Bristol Channel and then south along the coast, but unlike Carol Vorderman, I won't be taking it up as a full-time hobby! Though I am now the proud owner of a set of 'Pilot's Wings' so I can tick that one off the list!! (This is the only selfie that you're likely to see on Blip; I think I can allow myself one every 50 years!!!)
After all that excitement it was still only 11am so home for a much needed rest before heading out later on a geocaching quest, en route to Dyrham Park for an early evening outdoor theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet. There were a few heavy showers during the play but that didn't dampen the spirits, it just watered down the Champagne picnic slightly!!
I've decided it's very tiring being 50, but also very exciting!!!!
Apologies for being absent from blip for so long but I didn't envisage that last Saturday would be so crazy, or that I would then find myself in Cumbria for the week with no internet access. Will do my best to catch up with you all as soon as poss!
