Summer comes to Arnside
We welcome summer visitors to Arnside. At other times of the year our guests are either walkers with poles and rucksacks or over sixties who enjoy the free all day parking on the promenade. They sit in their cars looking across to the Lakeland hills and hoping to see the bore coming up the Kent. After a couple of hours they will stroll along to buy some lunch or a sandwich.
At this time we get some families too. And every other day the sun comes out for an hour or two.
They are all good for business and for the six or seven tea rooms we have.
But by the end of August some of us secretly look forward to schools reopening and to the return of peace and plenty of parking spaces. A bit selfish perhaps. But it is why we came to live here.
