Topiary
Friday
We spent much of the morning at Roger's parents, as it was his Dad's birthday - 86! After lunch altogether, we left them to rest for the afternoon, while the rest of us went out for a walk. We had a bit of excitement to start with. When we parked, Janet had noticed an emergency vehicle parked, with no one in it or around it. Then as we walked, there was a helicopter circling around, and Janet noticed it was an air ambulance, and deduced it was circling, looking for somewhere to land. Sure enough, a little further on, as the path began to run along a golf course, we came across an elderly man, apparently having some heart problems, sitting on the ground, being attended by a medic, and the helicopter came down to land on the golf course, the helicopter being required since it was not practical to get him back to the road. There was a fence between us and the golf course, and Janet (who is a retired doctor) realized they may need some help lifting the man over the fence, so we stuck around in case we were needed, and they did indeed call some of us to assist. Having seen him off safely into the air, we proceeded with our walk, around a small reservoir, with quite a bit of bird life and wild flowers to be seen, then along the canal for a stretch. This topiary was at the entrance to a big estate on our route. This evening we all went out to eat at a rather nice French restaurant, which we had been to a couple of years ago to celebrate his parents wedding anniversary.
