Rosebay Willowherb
I am having a very lazy day today with not much happening. Today’s picture, taken wth Mrs GOG’s camera is of Rosebay Willowherb just up the lane from our house. Up until a few years ago the plot of land adjacent to ours was covered with this, until a local farmer decided to try growing crops upon it. He detroyed all of the indigenous plants with herbicides, before seeding the ground, however after two unsucessful attempts to grow anything, due to the very damp condtions he abondoned this exercise. Unfortunately in the process of doing this he destroyed a very beautiful landscape and although the indigenous flora and fauna are returning, they are doing so very slowly; it is lkely to be a long time before we can once again, look out at this time of year, upon a purple haze of Rosebay Willowherb covering some twelve acres.
