Charles Gordon
A picture of the statue of Major General Charles George Gordon who saw active service with the British Army in a number of campaigns during the 19th century.
The statue stands beside the original site of a hospital for boys established by Robert Gordon. This other Gordon, a 17th century merchant, is undoubtedly more well known within the city today.
Both a private school - Robert Gordon's College, visible in the background of this picture - and The Robert Gordon University benefited from his philanthropy and bear his name.
