Well Diggers Arms

The Well Diggers Arms on the A283 near Petworth is under offer now. The legend-in-his-own-lifetime-landlord died in 2012 after running the pub for 56 years. It already had permission to be turned into a hotel, so we watch with interest what will happen now. This is the barn at the side. Nature in the form of Virginia Creeper has taken over in the last 2 years and it is almost completely covered. And in a bad state of repair. But what views over to the Sussex Downs. I'd love to know a bit more of its history.
