FMX

Although our brochure had said the average August temperature in Tignes was 31 degrees, the best we had seen was 20 and going down quickly. Today saw an all-time low of 4 degrees and drizzle - there was fresh snow on the mountains and the odd fleck made it down to the valley too. Luckily we had rain jackets, thermals and almost enough gloves if two people rode their bikes one handed and shared a pair (not downhill, though!).

Marina and Mike set off to walk to Val d'Isere and I embarked on a shorter hobble around the valley, but we were all driven back by freezing rain, finishing up in the bar with our woollies on… apparently it is freak cold weather all over this part of France.

Late afternoon there was an FMX display by world famous riders - here's one doing 'the superman' over a jump, again young men, alarming speed and danger - this holiday has a bit of a theme to it!
