En route to the four castles of Lastours

We climbed hundreds of steps to visit the four castles of Lastours in Cathar country in the south of France.

Here the path led us through a cave on the hillside to pick up the continuing stone steps that you can see through the cave opening. Sciatica down my right leg and pain in my left knee made me pay the price of the trek - but it was worth it for the spectacular views from the top.
