Iona- abbey from St. Columba hotel garden.

At last a day where the weather justified the long drive down to Iona. I always look forward to this trip - Iona really does have a very special feel - definitely 'a place of light '.

We stopped by Loch Scridain at a beach which we have named ' jelly fish creek' to avoid the coaches headed for an early crossing to Iona.
I always think of John Smith buried there.

We took the bikes and cycled to a beach on the far side having visited the abbey in recent years. We dozed on the sand under the eyes of a seal who was close in shore watching us!
