An Unexpected Day
What a day...
With a night of intermittent sleep from a tireless storm threatening to rip the roof from the lodgings last night we drove to Picton (via breakfast in Blenheim and a trip to a Ford garage as Hal decided to stop using turbo power) for our 1pm ferry.
1pm ferry cancelled due to a 11m swell in the morning.
2:30 ferry cancelled due to it being uncomfortable out at sea.
We rebooked onto the 6:30 crossing expecting the worse and went into the very small town to have some lunch and sit in a car park and read. Unfortunately whilst doing to latter we weren't seen by the lady in the parking spot in front and she reversed straight into us - poor Hal.
The 6:30 ferry departed though and we were on it (wahoo!) and we managed to sleep through the worst of the roughness to recharge for our hour drive at the other end.
Although not arriving at the Peppers resort to make full use of it's location to Martinborough we were very happy of the comfy bed at 1am when we arrived (after Hal lost turbo going up a hill on the way - again!).
Ha, it's a good job we both have a good sense of humour :D
