Fooled again
We bought a new camera around Christmas time. I'm sure the justification put to me was that it would be useful for blip. Still can't get my hands on it!
So K got some great photos of the Winchester Criterium today on the flashy camera while all I get to choose from on blip is a couple of hastily taken phone snaps. C'est la vie. At least it meant I focused on the cycling.
Some great cycling on a very twisty, technical circuit from U8s upwards. This was the U12s just after the start. Never let it be said I can't spot talent. I'd just said "She looks really good on a bike" when the announcer piped up with "....looking good in her National U8s Champion jersey". Ok so firstly, I need to brush up on my jersey recognition but secondly, they have an U8 National Champion? Really! She was cracking mind. I wish if caught her name as definitely one to keep an eye on.
If there's one thing that would drag me away from the cycling though, it's the Women's Rugby World Cup. So pleased with Sky for deciding not to show the Ireland v France game for 3rd place. NOT. At least, if you're not going to show it remove the bar which meant we couldn't watch the IRB live stream. Grrrrrr.
Luckily, England beat Canada in a tense (and nervy in the 2nd half) final to finally become World Champions again. Woohoo!
So happy for them and for Women's Rugby. It's been a fantastic tournament, huge development in some nations, well supported with great media coverage. Front page of all the broadsheets tomorrow. Tweets from all sorts of sporting legends. 20 years ago we hoped we'd get to this point but to actually be there is amazing.
