Mud Bath
Tomorrow, the dog park closes for turf replacement. This is a tough place for anything to grow. There is very little shade from our relentless sun and high traffic from 4 and 2 legged creatures. When the grass starts to thin, the area becomes a muddy mess as soon as it rains or when they water the grass daily.
And, oh how the dogs love the mud. Especially my dog. I swear that she is always the muddiest. She loves to wrestle with other dogs in the mud. And she is smart. She wants to stay cool. She lures dogs over to wrestle with her in the mud and plunks down on her back to keep cool while the other dog gets the more difficult job of wrestling with his back to the sun.
Fortunately, Cleo rides in a zippered soft kennel in my car, so the mud is contained. She has become much better about receiving a bath with the hose outside. She had one twice this week.
