Mrs.: Preening in the Wind
Prettier plumage (and preener) in large ("L").
I visited the Goosles (at Eagle Pond) this afternoon before the rain arrived; the clouds were thick but patchy and moving quickly so the light kept changing which made for fun photography. Mrs. is moulting but still looks very pretty, particularly when she spreads her feathers to preen. Her iridescent speculum is spread out here, and shows the range of oily colours that it can appear (depending on viewing angle).
I've uploaded quite a few shots of Mr. and Mrs. to my Flickr (right from this heart formation).
Highlights:
Mr. and watery brush-stroke bokeh
Funny preening positions: 1, 2, and 3

Thank you very much for sending yesterday's picture to the spotlight :o)
