Day 4 - Worthing to Hythe
Today’s ride was described to me last night as “flat”. It turned out that the ride was flat...until we hit another 3,000ft (1,000m) of climbing. Total distance today - 83 miles (133km).
Other than that the ride today was through the scenic South Coast of Kent, via two of the Cinq Ports finishing at a third, Hythe, which is also our second of The Four Corners. Around lunchtime we completed the first quarter of the ride. Only another three lots of this to go. Yeah!
The picture shows Sir David, the VC. He took quite a nasty tumble – always a risk with cleats as one’s feet are firmly attached to the pedals - but luckily for him he was riding with three professors from the medical school, so he was patched-up in no time.
We were finished by 18.00 which gave me a little more time today to wash my kit, do my stretches and relax for a few minutes before dinner.
